New problems for FC Barcelona

It is increasingly likely that FC Barcelona will be left without a main sponsor. The Japanese company has decided to end its cooperation with the Catalan football club, thus bringing even more worries to the president of the club.

FC Barcelona and Rakuten Group started cooperation in 2017 when a three-year contract was signed. Under the contract, the Japanese company decided to pay 55 million euros per season to have their inscription on the jerseys.

At the end of 2020, the contract was extended, but the amount was reduced to 30 million euros per year. The sponsorship inscription on the sleeve of the jersey.

Although this is not a good situation for the Catalan football club Barcelona it still has several offers from various sponsors. They hope to make better contracts over time. There is also a good chance that the club could sell the rights to the name of the Camp Nou stadium and thus earn even more.

Barcelona is currently in 7th place in La Liga with seven points. Real Madrid is in first place with 10 points, although Valencia and Atletico Madrid share the same number of points. The new season did not start well for Barcelona, and with financial problems, it will be harder for them to fight for a better position in La Liga.
