Doncic signing with Mavericks for $202 million extension

Luka Doncic is about to sign his first big contract with NBA, landing a five-year contract worth $202 million. The Slovenian player got the rookie scale supermax and he will be signing it with Dallas Mavericks.

Final discussions on this matter will be completed after Olympic Games. After completing the Group Stage with a 3-0 record, Doncic and Slovenia are ready to face Germany in a battle for a place in the semifinals Tuesday.

So far, he is still on his rookie contract, which would bring him around 10.1 million for the upcoming season. However, he is still eligible to sign a maximum extension since he was named to All-NBA First Team in 2020 and 2021.

Since the Dallas Mavericks acquired Doncic back in 2018 during the Draft, he has established himself as the face of the franchise and one of the NBA's elite stars. Apart from Doncic's NBA First Team appearances, he was also voted as being the All-Star starter during 2020 and 2021 at the time of being a prominent MVP candidate.
